Color

Why do hospitals assign colors to medical scrubs?

Short answer. Color codes help patients and staff identify roles at a glance. If your unit assigns a color, that is the uniform. If not, the choice is yours.

Typical patterns

Navy for nurses, another solid for techs, something else for support staff — it varies by system. Never assume another hospital uses your old code.
